DNEG’s AI Company Brahma Acquires Metaphysic to Boost AI Tech Development
DNEG Group’s AI company, Brahma, has acquired generative AI startup Metaphysic, known for its work on de-aging Tom Hanks and Robin Wright in Robert Zemeckis’ Here. The acquisition aims to accelerate AI technology development for content creation.
Brahma was established in 2024 after a $200 million investment in DNEG Group by Abu Dhabi-based United Al Saqer Group (UASG). As part of the deal, UASG and DNEG Group will invest an additional $25 million into Brahma.

Existing Metaphysic investors—including Liberty Global, S32, TO Ventures, and 8VC—will now hold shares in Brahma. Following the transaction, privately-held DNEG Group has reported Brahma’s post-deal valuation at $1.43 billion.
Metaphysic’s AI-powered tools recently won a Visual Effects Society Award in the emerging technology category for Here.

The company’s technology was also used in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga to replicate the likeness of the late Richard Carter and in Alien: Romulus to recreate the appearance of the late Ian Holm.
With this acquisition, Brahma aims to expand its AI-driven suite of products for enterprise clients, IP rights-holders, and content creators, enabling high-quality content generation at scale.
