Blender just dropped version 4.5 LTS, and if you’re into VFX, animation, or game dev, this update is worth checking out. It’s not just another patch this one brings a bunch of solid upgrades and it’ll be supported for the next two years.
One of the biggest changes? Vulkan is finally ready for real use. It’s faster and more responsive, especially on heavy scenes. It’s still not the default (you’ll need to turn it on in the preferences), but it’s officially on par with OpenGL now. That alone makes Blender feel smoother and snappier.

On the modeling side, the new Manifold Boolean solver is slick less mess, faster results. Geometry Nodes got some love too,
There’s also improved support for USD workflows, ProRes video export, and updates to formats like glTF, OBJ, and SVG. Basically, Blender’s getting even more pipeline-friendly.
Oh, and side note: Blender Studio is working on a game that connects Blender with the open-source Godot engine. That’s super exciting if you’re into open-source game development.
Sure, Blender isn’t perfect. Some features still need manual tweaking, and it might not replace your whole studio pipeline just yet. But honestly? It’s getting real close.
