World VFX Day

India is emerging as a global powerhouse in the anime world, with the second-largest fan base globally. Experts predict that the country will contribute a staggering 60% to the worldwide surge in anime interest over the next few years.

The government is doubling down on this momentum by establishing the National Centre of Excellence (NCoE) for the AVGC-XR sector, which covers animation, visual effects, gaming, comics, and extended reality.

Announced on Sunday, the NCoE is expected to create around 500,000 jobs in the industry.
Set to be headquartered in Mumbai, the NCoE has received Cabinet approval and will be structured as a Section 8 Company under India’s Companies Act, 2013.

The initiative will involve partnerships with key industry bodies, including the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The NCoE will take inspiration from premier institutions like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).

Students enrolling in the program will benefit from hands-on, industry-led training that ensures they are fully prepared for the workforce by the time they graduate.
