Adobe Unveils Photoshop 26.0 with Advanced AI-Powered Features

Adobe has officially released Photoshop 26.0, introducing a range of new AI-driven tools designed to streamline creative workflows.

Central to this update are two major generative AI features, which have now moved out of beta: Firefly-based Generative AI and the Generative Background tool.

The Generate Background feature automatically detects and replaces image backgrounds, with users able to fine-tune the result by providing a brief text description. Photoshop then seamlessly matches the new background to the existing lighting and perspective, offering a highly realistic transformation.

Another AI-driven feature, Generate Similar, enhances several existing tools within Photoshop, including Generative Fill, Generative Expand, and Generate Image. This function creates variations of a source image automatically, allowing artists to experiment with multiple creative options.

In addition, the Distraction Removal tool, part of the enhanced Remove function, uses AI to detect and eliminate unwanted elements—such as wires, cables, or background figures—within an image in one simple action.

For professionals in the visual effects, motion graphics, and animation industries, Photoshop 26.0 also brings OpenColorIO (OCIO) support, streamlining workflows in production pipelines by providing a standard for color management. This makes Photoshop more versatile for texturing and post-production work in movie environments.

Photoshop 26.0 remains available exclusively through Adobe’s subscription model.

The Photography plan, which includes Photoshop and Lightroom, is priced at approximately ₹10,000 per year, while single-app Photoshop subscriptions are available for ₹2,857 per month or ₹22,105 annually.
